And so it begins . . .
Greetings from Tegucigalpa, Honduras!
Scott and I rolled out of bed before 2 AM for our 6 AM flight out Wilmington. Thankfully, the reduction in work force with the government did not affect our flights. Our team of 21 traveled from various parts of the country: Colorado, Texas, Kentucky, Maryland, etc.
After we went through customs, our hosts handed us a Subway sandwich to eat on the drive to an after school program in the mountains. Scott described our drive through the mountain highways and dirt roads the most terrifying experience in a motor vehicle in his life. The drivers have no concept of person space.
As we climbed out of our vehicles, the children ran to greet us with hellos and hugs. We passed out candy then enjoyed a program they prepared for us. Global Health Outreach financially supports this community outreach.
Tomorrow, we will meet and assess our surgical candidates at the hospital.
